Apple iPhone SE

The Apple iPhone SE was launched a few days ago at a price starting at $399. It came out as a surprise to all the fans out there. But, it seems that this smaller flagship phone is quite reasonable. This new iPhone has pretty much the same looks as that of an iPhone 5s but the specs of an iPhone 6s.

The iPhone SE packs a 1.84 GHz dual core processor with 2 GB RAM and Apple’s A9 chipset. It has the retina display with a resolution of 640 x 1136 which has pixel density of 326 ppi. The resolution of the iPhone 6s is much more than that of the iPhone SE but the pixel density is similar. It comes with a six core GPU just like the iPhone 6s.

As I said, this phone has the same specs as that of a 6s but it is packed in a smaller body. The display is about 4″ long diagonally. This phones lacks the 3D touch capability. However, 3D touch is a feature that does not come in handy in our day-to-to usage. So, losing this feature to cut down on budget isn’t much of a sacrifice. Also, it is available in four colours – Silver, Gold, Space Grey and Rose Gold.

The phone boasts a 12 MP primary camera with 4K video recording and a 5 MP front facing camera. The camera on this phone is pretty great! The autofocus is on point but the optical image stabilization was not upto the mark. This camera is almost as good as the one on the 6s. It’s shutter speed is pretty quick and it is one of the best cameras on a smartphone. Although, the front facing camera hasn’t been upgraded well which is a disappointment.

For a small phone with a 1624 mAh battery, the life is pretty good. It lasts almost a whole day!

Apple decided to revert back to the design of the 5s. I am not really sure how costumers would feel about it as it has both upsides and the downsides. Many users would want a want a phone which has high end specs but still be small enough to be held comfortably. Apple’s design of the SE has flat edges rather than the rounded edges on 6s. This helps the user hold the phone more comfortably than the rounded edges. However, I think that Apple could have changed the design a little as this is a new flagship phone. The only way you could make out the difference between the iPhone SE and the iPhone 5s is if you bought one with the Rose Gold colour or if you saw the SE marks instead of the 5s mark at the rear of the phone.

Many people have shared a desire to own a phone with high end specs but with a smaller display. This makes a good phone for user-comfort as well as performance. A phone with top-of-the-line specs are usually with a bigger display or at least thicker. With this new phone, Apple fit all those specs into a compact design. But, most of the customers would have wanted a change in design. If you are one of those people who wants a small phone with top notch specs, then this is the one for you!
