Rumours of the new iPhone 6 have been accelerating in the past few weeks. The size of the display of the iPhone 6 is said to have been increased by a few inches. Majority of the iPhone 6 rumours have focussed on the screen size of the device, which is expected to increase. Even Apple has acknowledged in an external presentation that the consumers of the present generation want phones with bigger displays.
Apple currently uses durable and damage resistant corning gorilla glass for its iPhone’s, but some reports have suggested that the company could switch to sapphire crystal for their future displays. Apple has reportedly begun a trial run for an iPhone using sapphire display cover with the company ordering 100 of the devices from its assembly partner, Foxconn. Analyst Ming Chi Kuo indicates that due to production shortages with the sapphire screens, only certain high end models may use the new glass to start. In this new device, Apple might be changing the display resolution to 4K!
Initial rumours suggested that the iPhone 6 might have a curved display, but more recent rumours indicate that the device will continue to have a flat screen much like the iPhone 5S. Pretty obvious, don’t you think?
A recent rumour says that the iPhone 6 will continue to use the same 8-megapixel sensor as found in the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, while adding more features to it.
Apple’s iPhone 6 is likely to continue to use the Touch ID fingerprint sensor first found in the iPhone 5s.
