Micromax Canvas A1: Review

Android One is Google’s latest invention which aims on providing full featured phone at a low price. To start off, Google introduced 3 devices which run on Android one. All the 3 devices have similar specs but they differ in their designs. One of them is the Micromax Canvas A1.
A1-front4The Canvas A1 runs on a 1.3 GHz Quad-core Cortex A7 Processor. The design of Canvas A1 is entirely different and unique. Though its not an high-end specs phone, the A1 feels way better than other Micromax phones. The brushed aluminium look of the camera of the A1 is something we don’t see in all the phones.

It has a 4.5 inch WVGA display. The display is not that crispy. But its good enough for the first set of Android One devices. Canvas A1 has good audio quality with just one speaker on the back. As the Canvas A1 has stock Android it comes from Google’s Core Ecosystem. The default browser is Chrome, Keep is pre-installed as well as Google Play suite apps. Google has allowed the vendor to add some more apps like Amazon, Hike and Mlive.

The phone is not slim but pretty good to hold. The camera is of 5MP which is good enough for that price tag. The camera app is the Google Camera app so the user can get all the features like Blur, Photosphere, Panorama, HDR mode, WB adjustment, etc.

The Canvas A1’s battery is Li-ion 1700mAh. The other key feature is that it’s a dual SIM phone. The internal storage is 4GB and the external storage can be expanded upto 32GB and the RAM being 1GB.
The main drawback of this phone is that the user cannot use the camera without external micro SD card. The user is forced to have an SD card. Another drawback would be that the screen can easily get smudged.

The Micromax Canvas A1 is the best smartphone by Micromax. It is way better than other Micromax phones in terms of usability, stability and longevity. In fact by looking at its specs and design it sounds more expensive and sophisticated than what it really is. The best thing about the phone is the guaranteed updates from Google. I would say this is a good phone with good features at a reasonable price.
