Jetpack Joyride is a cave flier game that’s available for Android, iOS and Windows Phone, a game that has been created from a classic game. While not exactly “original” per se, the Australian game developer Halfbrick studios have tweaked the cave flier formula and transformed it into hours of laser shooting, robot rampaging and UFO teleporting fun.
While there isn’t much to the story of the game, it involves Barry Steakfries, a recurring character several of Halfbrick’s games like Monster Dash and Age of Zombies. Barry is trying to escape a nuclear facility with the help of a jetpack (which he obviously stole) through his endless journey to escape the facility, Barry encounters electric walls, missiles and razors, all of this in the ever-changing scenery of an underground laboratory full of poor scientists running around.
The game also has vehicles you can collect as powerups. These vehicles add plenty of variety which also helps it in differenciating itself from all the other cave fliers out there. There are also a ton of upgrades you can buy to make Barry stronger.
On the whole, Jetpack Joyride is a fun game and is definitely worth checking out. It’s available for free on Android, iOS and Windows Phone so there’s nothing to lose downloading it (except a lot of hours of your day enjoying the game)
